Speech-Language Pathology / Master of Science
The Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) Program at Lewis University is a continuous, full-time, entry-level program designed to be completed over 6 consecutive semesters. The SLP Program has attained candidacy for accreditation by the Council for Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA), a division of ASHA:

Admission
To be accepted for admission in the M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology program at Lewis University, candidates will meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders OR bachelor's degree in another field of study, plus the following CSD prerequisite coursework, including coursework in:
- Anatomy and physiology of communication and hearing mechanisms
- Speech and hearing science
- Normal development of speech, language, and hearing
- Phonetics
- Per ASHA certification standards for SLPs, all applicants must have taken one course in each of the following content areas. Each course must be outside the CSD major:
- Statistics (stand-alone course; not incorporated into a research methods or other related course)
- Biological Science, related to human or animal science (biology, anatomy/physiology, neuroanatomy/neurophysiology, human genetics, veterinary science)
- Physical Science (chemistry or physics)
- Social Science (psychology, sociology, anthropology, public health)
- Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.0 scale) for full admission; Minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale) for provisional admission
- Minimum major GPA (in all CSD courses, including a minimum of five completed courses at time of consideration) of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
- Interview, by invitation, based on review of application
- One spontaneous writing sample, obtained during interview
