African American Studies Minor

Minor Credit Hours: 21

The African American Studies minor includes courses from a variety of disciplines, such as sociology, history, literature, philosophy, psychology, communications, political science and social work. The minor provides a framework for understanding African-American history and culture and contemporary triumphs and struggles of African Americans. II. Elective Courses (12)

At least two courses (6) must be selected which offer full coverage of African American heritage and issues. Two additional courses (6) may be selected which offer partial coverage of African American heritage and issues. Please refer to the University Course Schedule for the specific offerings each semester.

III. Nine hours of this minor (including 2 upper-division courses and one additional course) may not apply to any other minor or a major offered at Lewis University.
