Introduction to computers and computerized information systems; survey of computer hardware and their uses and interactions; exploration of software, software packages and programming languages; basics of analyzing and designing business and information systems; introduction to data communications and networking, distributed data processing, access to the Internet; and hands-on use of microcomputers for spreadsheet and database business applications using the latest, most popular software.

LG-230 Finite Mathematics

Mathematical procedures of business problems and applications; set theory; functions; graphics of functions; permutations and combinations; probability distributions; linear equations; solutions by matrices; computer and/or simplex solutions to linear programming models; and the mathematics of finance.

LG-349 Statistics for the Decision Maker

Presentation and use of data in decision making, with emphasis on practical business applications; graphic and tabular summarization; measures of central tendency and dispersion; sampling distributions and estimation of important statistical parameters; hypothesis testing; analysis of variance; non-parametric methods; and single and multiple regression analysis. Excel is used to solve large scale case problems.

Prerequisites

LG-230 or equivalent and LG-200.

LG-350 Decision Science

Study, development and utilization of quantitative models for business decisions (linear programming; decision theory; PERT/CPM; queuing theory; simulation; forecasting and inventory control). Business problems are analyzed and solved using the aforementioned methods.
