Arabic Language and Culture Minor

Minor Credit Hours: 18

Both recent and anticipated geopolitical realities make clear the need for more graduates to be familiar with the Middle East, its cultures, and at least one of its languages. This minor provides students with a foundation for pursuing the growing field of Middle Eastern and Arabic Studies and a global awareness applicable to work in the arts, business, education, government, law, and medicine. Heritage speakers must consult the Director of the Foreign Language Program when selecting language courses for this minor. Arabic Language and Culture minors are encouraged to pursue a second minor in Ethnic and Cultural Studies.

Choose, with the advice and consent of the director of the Ethnic and Cultural Studies Program, 15 credit hours in significant ethnic and cultural electives, preferably in Middle East and /or Arabic-related courses not duplicated among courses listed above. Two courses (6 credits) must be at the 300 or 400 level.
