L9-101 Culture and Civilization I

This first course of a two-semester interdisciplinary study of culture and civilization covers prehistoric times to 1500 in a world context with special attention given to primary sites of urbanization: Mesopotamia, Egypt, the Indus, the Yellow River, Meso America, South America, and Africa.

L9-102 Culture and Civilization

This second course in a two-semester multicultural and interdisciplinary study of global cultures and civilizations covers the period from 1500 to the present. Emphasized are interconnections of all global sites in the eras of exploration, imperialism, and industrialization, as well as reactions to these forces.

L9-325 United States Since 1941

Students examine contemporary U.S. social, economic and political history, with focus on the Cold War and its end, the Civil Rights movement and current issues.
