Environmental Science

The Bachelor of Arts degree program in Environmental Science offers a course of study that prepares students for technical careers in natural resource conservation, natural resource management, conservation law enforcement and waste management. Majors gain a strong background in environmental science with core courses in the environmental and biological sciences. This background is strengthened by courses in chemistry and earth science.

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science major is designed for students who are interested in pursuing an advanced degree with practical applications to the environment or who desire the more rigorous credentials of a B.S. degree. Such a degree can be used for jobs with state and local conservation departments and organizations, non-government organizations, environmental protection agencies, and organizations involved in HAZMAT regulations. The degree emphasizes the interdisciplinary nature of Environmental Science and offers ecology and sustainability concentrations.

First-year students must have a minimal composite ACT score of 21 to be accepted into the Environmental Science program. Transfer students must have a minimum cumulative and science GPA of 2.75 to be accepted. Transfer students who do not have the minimum GPA may become Environmental Science majors/minors once their GPA is raised to 2.75. Students currently attending Lewis University who wish to declare a major/minor in Environmental Science must meet the same requirements as transfer students.
