30-230 Foundations of Clinical Nursing

This course focuses on the nursing process, basic nursing skills, therapeutic communication, and the role of the nurse as a member of the health care team. Emphasis is placed on wellness, physiological, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual factors which contribute to the patient's health across the lifespan. Students develop basic nursing skills through simulation activities followed by experiences in the acute care setting to provide and manage care for adult and older adult patients.

Second-semester Sophomore Nursing major status; Nursing 30-201, 30-203, and 30-231 or concurrently; Chemistry 03-105; Biology 02-101, 02-102, 02-103, 02-104, 02-225 and 02-227; Biology 02-270 or concurrently; and consent of the College of Nursing and Health Professions.
